Brenda Joyce, Vocalist, Songwriter, EntertainerBorn in Little Rock, Arkansas, Brenda grew up listening to every kind of music imaginable. Her favorite music is either straight-out blues or blues and gospel-tinged, which these days includes music from almost every genre. She first started singing professionally in Houston, Texas, and she has since performed throughout the United States, including the Horn, the Troubadour, Madame Wong’s and Studio One in Los Angeles. Brenda is also a gifted lyricist, and her repertoire includes many of her own blues songs, ballads and flat-out rockers. Ellis Tharp, Keyboardist, Vocalist, Composer, SongwriterAlso born in Little Rock, Ellis began playing professionally when he was 17, when he became a member of the B.J. Thomas band. Next he was a founding member of The Right Track, which signed with Atlantic Records and recorded some of his own songs. During this time, Ellis also performed with L.C. Davis, Jimmy Reed and David Ruffin of the Temptations. He then founded a group called The House, which opened for many major artists and signed with Liberty Records, touring throughout the United States. BRENDA & ELLISBrenda & Ellis first joined musically in Houston, and since that time, they have performed together all over the United States, Europe, and the Caribbean, basing their groups out of Houston, Denver, San Francisco, Dallas, Los Angeles, and, currently, Little Rock, Arkansas. In Palm Springs, California, they were part of a long-running rock and roll show, featuring, among others, such legends as Bobby Day, Little Dion, the Hollywood Flames, the Cadillacs and the Del Vikings. In Los Angeles, they were the musical opener for Joan Rivers’ comedy act. Brenda and Ellis moved back to Little Rock a few years ago, where they were the winners of the 1999 Arkansas Musicians Showcase. They are actively engaged in songwriting, are both members of the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers, and they have their own publishing company, Breli, and record company, Natasha. Their first CD was Down by the River, released in February 2000. Their second CD, We Done Paid Our Dues, was released at Riverfest 2004. A new original project and a Christmas CD are due out in 2006.Songlist
